Senior Product Manager

About Us

Urban Jungle is here to change the insurance industry for good.

We’re one of the fastest-growing businesses in the UK, and we’re taking on one of the biggest and most widely used categories in the world. Urban Jungle puts the customer at the heart of everything it does, uses the latest technology to make insurance simple, fair and affordable, and helps us give our customers much more confidence in their financial futures.

All of this has meant we’ve already been able to help more than 300,000 customers get better insurance and become one of the top-rated home insurance providers in the UK, rated Excellent on Trustpilot from over 9,000 reviews. We’ve raised over £30m in funding to date to help us with our mission.

We also have a huge focus on people and our planet. We’ve recently placed 1st in Tempo's 2024 award for best startup to work for, and came top 10 in the Deloitte Fast50. We’re also proud to be a certified B-Corp, and a Carbon Neutral company.

And the best bit? This is just the beginning.

About The Role

Product Managers at Urban Jungle sit at the core of cross-functional teams, contributing in areas as diverse as improving the experience of our purchase and claims flows, to launching completely new products, to building amazing tooling for our operations team (and so much more).

Day-to-day, you’ll work to deeply understand user needs, analyse data and conduct experiments, tackle interesting business problems and find creative ways to solve them. You’ll have a massive impact on the business from day one.

You’ll also have real responsibility for a huge product area, collaboratively prioritising how we use our resources and managing and coaching other product managers in the team.

In this role, you’ll work closely with our Product Director, Toby, as well as getting lots of exposure to the rest of our senior team, who have previously led some of the world’s fastest growing businesses, as part of playing a pivotal role in achieving our company’s growth plans.

Here’s what you’ll get up to:

  • You’ll be tackling our biggest business problems from the get-go, working closely across various teams in the business, including insurance, operations, commercial and, of course, working very closely with our engineering teams.
  • You will be designing and scoping features to meet these goals. You’ll oversee their development, testing and eventual launch.
  • Once you’ve shipped key features, you’ll be expected to evaluate performance, suggest improvements, and advocate for changes to make our product better.
  • As well as being responsible for product in these projects, you’ll manage cross-functional projects, showcasing your skills in this area.
  • Of course, as a startup we’ll also expect you to roll your sleeves up and get involved wherever the company needs you.

You've read this far! Here's what we need from you:

  • At least 4 years professional experience, 2 years of which have been in a  product role.
  • We are changing a huge financial industry - you are excited about being a part of this big opportunity (even if you know nothing about Insurance right now!)
  • Bonus points if you’ve dabbled with SQL, HTML / CSS, Python or any other programming language.
  • We’re looking for experience building world-class products end-to-end that  have created loads of value for customers as well as delivering business results.
  • You’ll have the ability to think critically with experience in leveraging business data to drive results.
  • You’re either already managing and coaching other Product Managers, or have transferable experience that will make you great at it.

These requirements are a guide as to what we’re looking for, but if you don’t have all of the skills listed above, that’s okay! Please don’t let that hold you back from applying if the role excites you.

About The Process

We have designed a process that aims to get the right candidate working here as quickly as possible. If things are moving too slow for you, tell us!

The process starts with an initial phone chat followed by a video interview with our Product Director. Then we’ll ask you to complete a take-home task which is timeboxed to 2.5 hours which you’ll present at an in-person interview, alongside meeting some members of the wider team.
